DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FEATURE , BASIC AND SMART PHONES
It is interesting when those who owned a
mobile phone in 90s and early 2000 recall how basic those phones were, when
compared to the multi taxing smart phones that are in use today. It shows that
the mobile phones industry has really evolved from what it used to be to
something better; in this article I’m going to group these phones base on
functionality.
FEATURE PHONES
Feature phone are generally neither basic mobile phone nor smart phone,
they are limited in functionality yet support a wide range of function over
basic phone, they provide voice call, text messaging and basic internet and
multimedia functionality. They support custom user interface and proprietary
operating system which are not used across other devices.

BASIC MOBILE PHONES
Basic mobile phones are similar to Feature phone
(Dumb phone) though it has less functionality. it only support voice calling
and text messaging, unlike feature
phones which support basic internet and multimedia yet just like feature phones
they tend to run proprietary custom software and user interface.

SMART PHONES
All phones that run a mobile phone
operating system that are used across other devices are considered smart, this category of phones are more
like our personal computer in that they can run any app that is designed to
work on its operating system. Android, Windows OS, RIM, and iOS are some of the
operating system run by smart phones, apart from having Generic operating
system, they are equipped with enhanced internet network, multimedia, huge
battery capacity and a great user interface.
